The 38-year-old country singer was voted entertainer of the year at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards on Monday, but as host, Dolly Parton noted, “Unfortunately, Miranda couldn’t be here tonight because she’s performing overseas.”
Lambert accepted the prize via video from London, where she will headline Country 2 Country on Friday, saying, “Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m not there to celebrate.”
“I’m missing the ACMs for the first time in 17 years,” she explained. “My heart is a little shattered, but I’m content to be where I am. I’ve been looking forward to this for a very long time. I never imagined that would happen. But thank you so much to the country music family for welcoming me and continuing to support me all these years.”
