The 43-year-old country singer won male artist of the year at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards on Monday, defeating Jimmie Allen, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Thomas Rhett.
During his acceptance speech, he stated that he is “very grateful” to be a member of the country music industry and that winning male artist of the year is “a dream.”
“Every minute we get to live this is a dream,” the singer remarked, later adding, “I’m proof that dreams come true all the time, so thank you, thank you to everybody.”
Stapleton’s album Starting Over was published in November 2020, and he spent much of 2021 on the road with his band, which included his wife Morgane.
