Private legal practitioner and Director of Conflict Resolution for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, stated that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ slogan has failed.

He attributed this to the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government accumulating significant debt and relying on donor support for survival.

Amaliba contended that other countries provide government aid, which is necessary to address the health needs of the Ghanaian people.

His remarks follow the government’s apparent lack of interest in clearing 283 containers at the Tema Port, which contain medications for tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, and malaria, as well as treated mosquito nets.

The Global Fund for Community Foundation donated these medical supplies to Ghana at no cost. However, Ghana’s government and the Ministry of Health have taken over a year to clear these life-saving items.

Speaking on the TV3 New Day program on Friday, Mr. Amaliba sharply criticized the government for failing to clear the medical supplies donated to Ghana by the Global Fund.

He said, “you, as a government, said Ghana Beyond Aid; that slogan has fallen in [the] water; people are giving you aid so that you can help the ordinary Ghanaians you have refused to go and clear them.”

Additionally, the private legal practitioner questioned whether the country even had a president.
