What Happened To Abby Zwerner?
Zwerner was said to have been shot in her chest and hand, with a 9mm Taurus pistol, on January 6, 2023, by her 6-year-old male pupil, at Richneck Elementary School Newport News, Virginia, United States.
The minor shooter upon interrogation, disclosed that the weapon belonged to his mother.
Zwerner, 25, who is a graduate of James Madison University, had been teaching a lesson in class when the minor pulled the trigger.

Police reports show that the shooting was intentional. Although, Zwerner attempted to confiscate the gun from the child but failed.
She has been declared medically stable and in good condition. The child shooter has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
The school has also been shut down temporarily till further notice.
The ugly incidence has been described as the first U.S. school shooting in 2023, and one of sixteen U.S. school shootings carried out by shooters age 10 since 1970.
