Abby Zwerner, an American first grade school teacher was shot by her student, a 6-year old boy, at Richneck Elementary School Newport News, Virginia, United States.

What Happened To Abby Zwerner?
Zwerner was said to have been shot in her chest and hand, with a 9mm Taurus pistol, which the 6-year-old male student claimed to have belonged to his mother.
Zwerner who is a graduate of James Madison University, had been teaching a lesson in class when the minor pulled the trigger.

Police reports show that the shooting was intentional. Although, Zwerner had tried to confiscate the gun from the child but to no avail.
She has been declared medically stable and in good condition. The child shooter has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
The school has also been shut down temporarily till further notice.
The ugly incidence has been described as the first U.S. school shooting in 2023, and one of sixteen U.S. school shootings carried out by shooters age 10 since 1970.
