Britney Spears married Sam Asghari on Thursday June 9, 2022 in a ceremony that took place in Los Angeles.

However the ceremony was held in the absence of Spears’ children; Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline.

It was already known that Britney’s brother, Bryan, was to be the only person from her close family circle that would attend the wedding, as her father, mother and her sister Jamie Lynn were all absent.

Spears became engaged to the father of her children Kevin Federline in July 2004 and according to reports, Spears and Federline had met three months earlier.

Spears and Federline’s relationship was the subject of intense media attention because Federline had only recently broken up with actress Shar Jackson, who was still pregnant with their second child at the time.

The stages of their relationship were chronicled in Spears’s first reality show Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, which premiered on May 17, 2005, on UPN. Spears later referred to the show in a 2013 interview as “probably the worst thing I’ve done in my career”.

They held a wedding ceremony on September 18, 2004, but were not legally married until three weeks later on October 6 due to a delay finalizing the couple’s prenuptial agreement.

However, things ended between the duo when Spears filed for divorce in November 2006, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

In her initial filing, Spears asked for legal and physical custody of her two sons, with Federline to receive “reasonable visitation rights.”
