Ken Burns and his first wife, Amy Stechler, welcomed two daughters into the world: Sarah Burns and Lily Burns. Sarah, born on October 23, 1982, has followed in her father’s footsteps as an author, public speaker, and filmmaker. She gained acclaim for her book “The Central Park Five: A Chronicle of a City Wilding,” which she later adapted into a documentary film co-directed with her father. Lily, the younger of the two, has pursued a career in the entertainment industry, working as a producer and writer.

After his marriage to Stechler ended, Ken Burns found love again and expanded his family. With his second wife, Julie Deborah Brown, he welcomed two more daughters: Olivia Burns and Willa Burns. While less is known about Olivia and Willa compared to their older sisters, they undoubtedly share their family’s passion for creativity and storytelling.

The Burns family’s legacy extends beyond their individual achievements to encompass their shared values of curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to making a difference in the world. Whether through their work in the arts, activism, or philanthropy, each member of the Burns family has contributed to the family’s collective legacy of excellence and compassion.
