The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 21 new COVID-19 cases across the country.

In a recent interview with Accra-based United Television, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye emphasized that despite a decrease in the number of cases to 18, COVID-19 remains a prevalent concern.
Dr. Aboagye stressed the importance of vaccination, highlighting that individuals who have not received the vaccine remain susceptible to the disease.
He noted that vaccination efforts are ongoing nationwide, with plans for intensified campaigns throughout May, June, and July to increase vaccination rates.

Addressing concerns about vaccine eligibility, Dr. Aboagye mentioned that individuals under 14 years old, constituting about 25% of the population, are unable to receive the vaccine.
However, efforts are underway to vaccinate as many eligible individuals as possible to curb the spread of the virus.
Regarding the new cases, Dr. Aboagye revealed that infections were reported not only in the Greater Accra Region but also in the Bono Region.
He assured the public that health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking proactive measures to prevent further spread.
Dr. Aboagye underscored the importance of remaining vigilant and adhering to preventive measures to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission, urging individuals to continue practicing hand hygiene, wearing masks, and maintaining social distancing protocols.
