Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has criticized Nigerians who are excited about the return of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 9 despite the country’s economic challenges.

The popular reality show kicked off on Sunday, July 28, featuring 28 housemates paired up for this season’s “No Loose Guard” theme, which promises thrilling twists over the next 10 weeks.
In a post on her Instagram page on Monday, Etiko expressed her displeasure at the enthusiasm surrounding the TV show while many Nigerians are struggling to survive. She lamented that people are hungry and emphasized the need to focus on the country’s pressing issues.
Etiko questioned how people could afford data to watch the show, given the current economic situation. She remarked that if people are not complaining about the state of the country, she questioned why she should.

“E don red for our country and I still dey see some people dey happy about BBN.
“Hmmmmm nawa o Oh una still get enough money for DATA Abi? If you guys do not complain, then who am I to do so?
“I am majorly concerned about the poor masses, though. That you can survive does not mean that everyone can.
“Crime is now happening everywhere, insecurity has become the order of the day and everyone is literally calm. THE EARLIER, THE BETTER.”
She voiced her concern for the poor masses, pointing out that just because some can survive, it doesn’t mean everyone can. Etiko highlighted the rise in crime and insecurity, urging people to address these serious issues rather than being distracted by the show.
Her comments have sparked a conversation about the priorities of Nigerians amidst the ongoing economic challenges.
