A lock with La Rochelle in the French Top 14 league, William Skelton is an Australian rugby union player. Skelton was born in New Zealand, migrated to Australia when he was a young man and was granted residency after moving there.

Skelton was added by Waratahs head coach Michael Cheika to the Extended Player Squad in 2013. When the British and Irish Lions visited Australia in June of that year, he was chosen to play for the Waratahs and made his Super Rugby debut against the Stormers.
In the 2022 European Rugby Champions Cup Final, he led La Rochelle to a thrilling 21-24 victory over Leinster on May 28, 2022. For the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Skelton was selected as the Wallabies’ captain.
