Police have arrested the spouse of a National Democratic Congress branch youth organizer in the Asante Mampong Constituency, suspected of stabbing him. The victim, Osei Akoto, a teacher in his forties, passed away from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, following an altercation during which his partner allegedly stabbed him.

The incident, which occurred in the Kofi Sarpong suburb of Asante Mampong where the couple lived, left residents in shock. According to neighbours, the deceased, Osei Akoto, and his wife identified only as Abigail, were known for their frequent quarrels, with a particularly heated altercation taking place on Thursday night, leading to the fatal stabbing.

Abigail, the suspect in the case, is currently in police custody to assist with investigations, while crime officers are conducting a thorough examination of the crime scene. Hudu Mumuni Yahaya, representing the NDC in the Asante Mampong Constituency, confirmed the incident, extending condolences and acknowledging the deceased’s contributions to the party’s local activities.
Osei Akoto, survived by three children, has had his body transported to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
