There is no denying that Suzy Merchant, a former head coach of the women’s basketball team at Michigan State, has solidified her legacy there.

In a statement on Monday, Merchant announced that she will immediately resign from her position as head coach at Michigan State due to health concerns.
She suffered injuries in a car accident in January, which prevented her from continuing as a coach for the remainder of the 2022–23 campaign.

Born and reared in Michigan, Merchant started her coaching career at Eastern Michigan and Saginaw Valley University before being appointed the new head coach at MSU in April 2007.
