She was in Bucks Fizz from 1981 to 1985 and was the youngest member of the group’s original line-up.
The British pop group Bucks Fizz won the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest when Jay was 19.
During her time in the band, Bucks Fizz had 12 of their 13 UK top 40 hit singles, including three number one hits.
Jay revealed in June 2018 that she was battling mouth cancer and was facing the end of her singing career.

In 1985, Jay Aston left the Bucks Fizz group in acrimonious circumstances after a concert in Newcastle.

It soon emerged that Aston had been having an affair with producer Andy Hill – the husband of the group’s creator Nichola Martin.
The group’s management company took Aston to court under the terms of her contract, but dropped the case amid the trial and agreed to release her from it.
However, an injunction was placed on Aston from commencing a solo career. It took two years to resolve the case and resulted in selling her Kensington home.
