Why Did Fiona Gallagher Leave Shamless?

Emmy Rossum’s Fiona exited Shameless in March 2019 after nine seasons on the Showtime program.

Fiona eventually got her act together after a tumultuous season, going to AA with Lip and selling her $100K ownership in a South Side gentrification project.

Fiona used the money to finally do something for herself, and in the Season 9 finale, she gave half of it to Debbie and kept the rest for herself.

Fiona’s whereabouts were never revealed in Shameless, however, she was mentioned a few times after her departure.

Why Did Fiona Gallagher Leave Shameless?

When actress Emily announced that Shameless Season 9 would be her last, she revealed it was so that she could move on to other projects.

Fiona was not in the final episode of Shameless, which aired in April 2021.

Fans expected her to return, especially after one of the main characters perished in the climax.

Emily has appeared in action-drama Cold Pursuit and an episode of Mr. Robot, her husband Sam Esmail’s drama series, since leaving Shameless.

In July 2021, Emily gave birth to a child with Sam.
