Anne Ramsey-Mobley was a film actress from the United States. She was well recognized for her film roles as Mama Fratelli in The Goonies and Mrs. Lift in Throw Momma from the Train, the latter of which received her Academy and Golden Globe Award nods.

Ramsey began a successful Hollywood career in character roles in the 1970s, appearing on television shows like Little House on the Prairie, Wonder Woman, Three’s Company, and Ironside.

Ramsey’s slightly slurred speech, which became a signature of her later performances, was caused in part by having a piece of her tongue and jaw removed following surgery for esophageal cancer in 1984.

On August 11, she died in Woodland Hills’ Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital.

Anne Ramsey’s speech impediment was caused by operations she underwent to treat throat cancer. During filming, she was undergoing additional oral surgery and endured intense pain.
