Why are people leaving sandwiches at Buckingham Palace? Does the Queen like marmalade sandwiches?

During Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, she appeared in a short skit with the animated character Paddington Bear. Both of them shared that they kept a marmalade sandwich on hand for emergencies. Paddington pulled his from his hat while the Queen pulled hers from her handbag.

After the death of the Queen on September 8, 2022, mourners left marmalade sandwiches outside Buckingham Palace as a form of paying tribute to the Queen. However, they were asked to stop as it was affecting the park’s wildlife.

“In tribute, people are now leaving marmalade sandwiches out Buckingham Palace. Park officials are asking them to stop. They say the sandwiches are having a negative impact on the park’s wildlife, but it’s a sweet way to honor the Queen,” reports said.

The Queen physically appeared in very few short films and skits, however, her character was portrayed in hundreds of movies, cartoons, and other skits.
