Its name was previously used by subsidiaries in other countries, including Germany (now Deutsche Telekom), Romania (now Telekom România), Slovakia (now Slovak Telekom), and the United Kingdom (now EE Limited).

Globally, T-Mobile International’s subsidiaries had a combined total of approximately 230 million subscribers. It was the world’s thirteenth-largest mobile-phone service provider by subscribers, and the fourth-largest multinational after the UK’s Vodafone, India’s Airtel, and Spain’s Telefónica.

Why are all the T-Mobile stores closing?

The idea that all T-Mobile locations are closing is untrue. T-Mobile continues to run thousands of retail sites across the United States, despite the fact that, like many other retailers, it has seen changes in its retail strategy and store network over time.

It is true, though, that T-Mobile has closed a handful of its locations in recent years as part of its ongoing initiatives to improve its retail network and adjust to shifting consumer preferences.

T-Mobile has given a number of reasons why its stores have closed, including the growth of online shopping, modifications in consumer behaviour, and the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects on retail sales.

What network is T-Mobile shutting down?

To streamline its network operations and put more of a focus on cutting-edge technologies, T-Mobile has in the past shut down a few outdated networks.

For instance, as part of its transition to 5G, T-Mobile will shut down its long-running 3G network in 2021. Through this action, T-Mobile was able to enable its 5G network and enhance network performance by re-farming the spectrum that had previously been used for 3G.

T-Mobile has been striving to strengthen and enlarge its network infrastructure in recent years, particularly by implementing 5G technology and acquiring more wireless airwaves.
