William Hahn, a former assistant coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers under head coach Bob Huggins, was an American basketball coach who died on April 7, 2023. Hahn has broken multiple school records at Maryland while serving as a head coach and assistant coach.

He also recruited 19 players who will play in the NBA during his time there. Yet while leading the La Salle University Explorers, he was roundly chastised for his part in a rape case in 2004. At Morris Harvey College, where Rick Meckfessel was the head coach at the time, Hahn started his coaching career in 1975. Hahn joined the Davidson College coaching staff in 1976 as an assistant.

William Hahn, a former assistant coach for the men’s basketball team at West Virginia University, passed away at the age of 69.
At WVU, Hahn worked for 10 years as Bob Huggins’ assistant coach while mentoring 27 future NBA players.
Fran Fraschilla of ESPN reports that Hahn had a heart attack earlier this week.
Hahn began working at Huggins in 2007 and left in 2017. In 2010, he assisted the Mountaineers in winning their first Big East Conference championship.
Hahn assisted the Mountaineers eight times as they made it to the NCAA Tournament. With four trips to the Sweet 16, the group earned one of those invitations and went on to the Final Four.
Former WVU players posted condolences for the late coach on social media after hearing the news on Friday.
