Former American professional baseball player Steve Garvey is a contender in the impending California United States Senate election of 2024. From 1969 to 1987, he was a first baseman in Major League Baseball with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers.

In the opening round of the 1968 MLB draft, Garvey was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers. On September 1, 1969, he made his Major League debut at age twenty.
On October 10, 2023, Garvey declared his intention to run as a Republican for the California Senate seat in 2024. In the partial term special election primary to take Laphonza Butler’s seat and close Dianne Feinstein’s vacancy, Garvey garnered the most votes.

Who is Steve Garvey’s daughter?
At age 22, Garvey married Cynthia Truhan[41] in 1971. They had two daughters, Krisha and Whitney. Garvey and Cynthia divorced in 1983.
Garvey sued his ex-wife Cynthia for access to his two children when she refused access, which he won. His daughters testified in court that they did not wish to see him, but a psychiatrist testified that they exhibited parental alienation syndrome.
