A New Challenge: Staying Awake for 12 Days
In August 2024, Norme took on a new and controversial challenge: attempting to stay awake for 12 days straight.
His live broadcast run for over 246 hours, which translates to more than 10 days of continuous wakefulness. However, on August 11 2024, he revealed that YouTube banned his channel before he could break the record.
While Guinness World Records no longer monitors this particular record due to health concerns, Norme’s attempt brings attention to the previously recognized record held by Randy Gardner, who stayed awake for 264.4 hours (11 days and 24 minutes) in 1964.
The current record, set by Robert McDonald in 1986, stands at 453 hours 40 minutes (18 days, 21 hours, and 40 minutes).
