He is the Republican nominee who run for governor in the 2021 New Jersey gubernatorial election, which he won on June 8. He also contested for governor in 2017 but lost to Kim Guadagno, Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey.
Ciatterelli also represented the 16th legislative district by serving in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2011 to 2018. He currently contested against incumbent Democratic Governor Phil Murphy on November 2.

As a businessman, Ciatterelli owns Galen Publishing L.L.C., a medical publishing company. He used to work as a certified public accountant. He was also an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University for three years.
