Ilyon Woo has a rich educational background in the humanities. She began her studies at King Open School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and then graduated from Yale College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities.

Woo furthered her passion for literature by earning a PhD in English from Columbia University in 2004.

In addition to her writing, Woo has been featured as an author at various literary events, including the 2024 Exeter Literature Festival and the 2024 Newburyport Literary Festival.
