It is well known that Henry VIII was ruthless, arrogant, and at times downright rude. Despite this, it’s difficult to argue that King Henry VIII was a competent ruler. During his reign as King of England from 1509 to 1547, he accomplished a great deal.

Henry VIII is one of the most well-known monarchs in English history. He established both the Church of England and the Royal Navy.
When his father, Henry VII, died on April 21, 1509, Henry VIII ascended to the throne. He was a charismatic and powerful figure, arguably most known for his turbulent love life and the creation of the Church of England.

He is also credited with founding the Royal Navy, promoting shipbuilding, and developing anchorages and dockyards.
Between 1545 and 1546, King Henry VIII successfully defended his country against every single French attack. Sure, he may have incited their attacks… But at the very least, he kept his country secure!
Henry VIII’s accomplishments were successful due to his high level of strategic thinking and keen ability to influence and lead others.
