The third mission aimed at lunar exploration is Chandrayaan-3, which the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is currently planning. This project will have a lander and a rover like its predecessor Chandrayaan-2, but it will not have an orbiter.

Instead, a propulsion module will act as a satellite for relaying communications. Up until the spacecraft reaches a 100 km lunar orbit, the lander and rover assembly will be carried by the propulsion module.
The need for a new lunar mission was made clear after Chandrayaan-2’s soft landing phase was marred by a software error, resulting in the lander’s unsuccessful touchdown despite a successful orbital insertion.
On July 14, 2023, at 2:35 Indian Standard Time (IST), Chandrayaan-3 is slated to launch.

Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM 3), which included an orbiter, a lander, and a rover, was used by ISRO to launch Chandrayaan-2 as part of the second phase of the mission, which was intended to demonstrate a soft landing on the Moon. In order to deploy the Pragyan rover, the lander was planned to touchdown on the lunar surface in September 2019.
There had previously been rumors of an India-Japan partnership for a trip to the lunar south pole. India would supply the lander as part of this agreement, and Japan would provide the rocket and the rover. The expedition may include tasks like site sampling and testing of technological solutions for surviving the lunar night.
