It is an academic approximation of the original design, based on available evidence of the 1599 and 1614 buildings, and is located approximately 750 feet (230 m) from the site of the original theatre.

The Globe was the principal playhouse of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men. Most of Shakespeare’s post-1599 plays were staged at the Globe, including Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, and Hamlet.

The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. The theatre is located on Bankside, about 230 metres (750 ft) from the original site measured from centre to centre.

Listed Georgian townhouses now occupy part of the original site and could not be considered for removal.

The original theatre was built in 1599, destroyed by the fire in 1613, rebuilt in 1614, and then demolished in 1644.
