Joe Theismann was the starting quarterback for the Washington Football Team (formerly known as the Washington Redskins) in the NFL.

On November 18, 1985, while playing the New York Giants, he was tackled by Lawrence Taylor, which resulted in a career-ending injury. Theismann’s right leg had a complex fracture as a result of the trauma.

As the team’s quarterback, Jay Schroeder went on to have a prosperous career, playing for Washington from 1985 to 1987 before making appearances for other NFL teams.

Schroeder was known for his strong arm and ability to lead the team during his time as the starting quarterback.

During his career, Jay Schroeder threw for 20,063 yards with 114 touchdowns and 108 interceptions. He also ran for 761 yards with 5 rushing touchdowns 2. Schroeder’s peak season was in 1986 when he led the Redskins to a 12-4 record while throwing for a then-team record of 4,109 passing yards. He was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1986 season.

Schroeder is also known for being the only college football coach to bring six different programs to bowl games and the only coach to lead four schools to the final top 20 rankings.
