What medical condition does Amy Dowden from strictly have?

Amy Dowden, who competes on Strictly Come Dancing with CBBC’s Karim, has had Crohn’s disease for more than half her life.

In May of this year, the professional dancer disclosed that she had Crohn’s illness.

Crohn’s disease is a chronic disorder that affects sections of the digestive system. It causes the colon to become irritated and inflamed, making going to the bathroom difficult and unpleasant. It can also cause severe stomach pains.

Amy, who grew up in Caerphilly, Wales, says she used to hide her symptoms as a child.

Amy Dowden has also spoken up about being abused and body-shamed as a result of her Crohn’s disease.

The 30-year-old professional dancer said that she has gotten unfavorable feedback regarding a side effect of the medicine she uses to manage her condition.

Amy has admitted to having a recent flare-up, and the large amount of intravenous steroids she received in the hospital has caused her to gain weight.

She stated how the medicine makes her feel better but also causes her body to bloat and her face to puff out due to water retention.

She went on to say that she has been battling with the side effects of medicine on her body her whole career.
