Asked by James Corden why he was getting them removed, Farrell said that embarrassment was only partly to blame. Farrell decided to remove his tattoos primarily to simplify his preparation for film roles.

Colin Farrell expressed frustration with the time-consuming process of covering his tattoos with makeup, which often added an extra 45 minutes to his morning routine. By removing the tattoos, he aimed to streamline his routine and gain more time for sleep.

Colin Farrell noted that the tattoos did not hold significant personal meaning, stating, “none of them had that much significance to me, that I would choose 45 minutes over my own history” .

The removal process was painful, and while he mentioned that some designs are still slightly visible, he was particularly eager to eliminate a poorly done tattoo on his chest, humorously describing it as resembling “a cat’s as sitting on a chopstick”.
