Lynda Gravátt, a famous Broadway actress who also appeared on TV shows like Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and East New York, has passed away. She was 76 years old.

Her son, David Gravátt, said she died on Friday, February 23, at a hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The cause of death was not given.
Born on May 24, 1947, in Harlem, New York, Gravátt started acting at a young age. She appeared in her first Broadway show, The King and I, when she was only four years old. She even performed at Carnegie Hall when she was nine.

After attending Howard University, where she acted in many plays, she graduated in 1971 and continued acting at the Living Stage. Gravátt had a successful career in theater, starring in shows like Doubt, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Intimate Apparel.
She also appeared on TV, including a regular role on a series called The Hoop Life. She guest-starred on several Law & Order series and was in other shows like Sex and the City and 30 Rock. Her last TV role was in East New York.
In movies, Gravátt appeared in films like The Architect, The Bounty Hunter, and Delivery Man.
Besides acting, Gravátt taught at Howard and Rutgers University and helped start the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington.
