Jewel shared that she didn’t fully understand the extent of her mother’s betrayal until she was in her thirties. “I didn’t realize what my mom was until I was 30-something. I woke up and realized she embezzled all of my money, over $100 million,” Jewel said during the podcast. This revelation was a significant emotional blow, compounded by the financial devastation it caused.

Despite this immense personal and financial betrayal, Jewel has found ways to rebuild and give back. Now 48 years old, she has dedicated herself to creating positive change, particularly in the realm of mental health for young people. In the early 2000s, Jewel co-founded Inspiring Children, a non-profit organization aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of youth.

In addition to her work with Inspiring Children, Jewel has recently launched a mental health app called Innerworld. This app is designed to provide users with tools and resources to manage their mental health more effectively, reflecting Jewel’s commitment to leveraging her experiences to help others.
