Giorgos Giakoumakis is a Greek professional footballer who plays as a striker for Major League Soccer club Atlanta United FC and the Greece national team.

Giakoumakis commenced his football career with Atsalenios’ youth team where he played for three seasons before being promoted to the senior side.
A year after joining Atsalenios senior team, he moved to Platanias Football Club where he stayed till 2017. He then had a spell with AEK Athens (2017–2020), VVV-Venlo (2020–2021), Celtic (2021–2023), and Atlanta United (2023).
Internationally, Giakoumakis represented Greece’s national team at under-21 before being called up to the senior national team in 2020.

What happened to Giakoumakis?
Atlanta United striker Giakoumakis injured his hamstring at the start of July during a 2-0 win over Philadelphia, and the MLS All-Star faced a fitness test in order to be available for the subsequent games.
On July 15, 2023, Giakoumakis returned to the bench for the game against Orlando City SC after missing a pair of matches with a hamstring injury. He was not rushed into big minutes to give him enough time to heal fully.
