Bunny DeBarge has faced significant challenges in her life, including struggles with substance abuse and the aftermath of childhood trauma. In 2008, she bravely broke her silence by releasing her autobiography, “The Kept Ones,” in which she candidly discussed her experiences with abuse at the hands of her father and her battles with addiction.

Following the publication of her autobiography, Bunny appeared on the debut episode of the TV One series, “Unsung,” where she shared insights into her childhood and her time with the musical group DeBarge, alongside her brothers Randy and James.

The trio later appeared on the show “Lifechangers” in September 2011, accompanied by Bunny’s daughter Janae. During this time, there were attempts made by family members to seek help for their struggles with addiction, with varying degrees of success.
Bunny, however, demonstrated a commitment to her recovery journey by entering a rehabilitation program in West Hollywood, California. Unlike her brothers, who left the program prematurely, Bunny remained dedicated to completing her treatment. After successfully completing her rehabilitation program, Bunny focused on her music career, including touring and working on her new album.
