Who Is Johnny Mercer?
Johnny Mercer is a British politician and retired Army officer. He belongs to the Conservative Party.
Born on August 17, 1981, in Dartford, Mercer has been Member of Parliament for Plymouth Moor View since 2015.
Mercer attended Eastbourne College, in Eastbourne in East Sussex, and upon graduation, he worked as an intern in the City of London for two years.

Johnny Mercer Career
Mercer graduated from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, in 2003 and became a second lieutenant in the Royal Artillery in 2005.

He had excelled in the All Arms Commando Course and served mostly with 29th Commando Regiment Royal Artillery and 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.
He retired from the military in 2013 with the rank of a Captain.
Mercer was known to be an ardent supporter of Boris Johnson during the Conservative Party leadership election back in 2019.
In the same year, he became Minister for Defence People and Veterans in Johnson’s government and was in charge of armed forces personnel and veterans’ welfare.
In July 2022, he was appointed Minister for Veterans’ Affairs at the Cabinet Office after Johnson announced his resignation.
In September 2022, he was sacked by Prime Minister Liz Truss.
