Michael Zimmer, born June 5, 1956, is an American football coach who currently serves as the head coach of the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings . He formerly worked as the Cincinnati Bengals’, Atlanta Falcons’, and Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator.

Zimmer is the son of Bill Zimmer, a former NFL player and coach who died on August 12, 2015, at the age of 84.
Vikki Zimmer, Zimmer’s wife, died unexpectedly at their Ohio home on October 8, 2009. After the Bengals’ 17–14 victory over the Baltimore Ravens three days later, Zimmer was presented with the game ball by Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis.

Adam, Corri, and Marki Zimmer are Zimmer’s three children. The Vikings’ current linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator is Adam Zimmer. During the New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl-winning season, Adam also worked as an assistant linebackers coach.
Zimmer is the proprietor of a hunting lodge in Northern Kentucky.
