Gene Anderson was the wrestling pioneer for the fictional Anderson family, while Ole Anderson joined the wrestling scene under the guidance of Gene.
The Anderson family lineage in wrestling started with Gene Anderson, who trained under Verne Gagne for the AWA, and was later joined by his storyline big brother Lars Anderson.
Ole Anderson, whose real name was Alan Robert Rogowski, was invited by Gene to join the team and began performing as Ole Anderson, the brother of Gene and Lars.

Gene and Ole Anderson’s wrestling partnership was characterized by their collaboration as a tag team known as The Minnesota Wrecking Crew. Gene Anderson, the elder brother, initially formed the tag team with Larry Heiniemi, who later became Lars Anderson in the storyline.
When Ole Anderso, joined the wrestling scene in 1968, he was portrayed as the younger but meaner brother of Gene and Lars. The three brothers teamed up in various combinations until Lars eventually moved to Hawaii in 1969. After Lars’ departure, Gene and Ole continued as a tag team until 1982.
While their on-screen partnership was successful and iconic, their real-life relationship did not mirror the close familial bond portrayed in wrestling storylines.
Despite their success as a tag team, Gene and Ole Anderson did not have a warm relationship off-screen.
