Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer Anthony Victor, known as Victony, has addressed the recent criticism surrounding his debut album, Stubborn.

The singer faced comments suggesting that the album’s commercial performance suffered due to a lack of “haters” to generate buzz through negative commentary.
In response, Victony took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to dismiss the notion as “dumb.”
Expressing frustration with the unrealistic expectations placed on his career, Victony emphasized that he is not in a hurry to match the level of success achieved by his contemporaries, Rema and Asake.

Victony’s statement read:
“Lmao, ‘Victony need more haters’ gotta be the dumbest shit I seen cos what’s the rush? Everyone wanna be Rema and Asake in 2 hours?”
Despite the criticism, Victony remains focused on his artistic journey, underscoring that he is taking his time to grow and develop his career at his own pace.
