Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres has ordered the Nigerian police to as a matter of urgency, end the killing of innocent people in the country.
In a statement issued by the secretary-general, he condemned the murder of innocent protesters, fighting for their voices to be heard.
He further sent his condolence to the families of those who lost their lives during the protest.
“The Secretary-General is following recent developments in Nigeria and calls for an end to reported police brutality and abuses.
“He condemns the violent escalation on October 20 in Lagos which resulted in multiple deaths and caused many injuries”.
