Uefa Suspend Ajax Goalkeeper, Andre Onana For Failing A Doping Test

Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has been banned by UEFA for failing an anti-doping test conducted on him by EUFA.

An out-of-competition check found Furosemide in the Cameroon international’s urine, but Ajax Amsterdam claim Onana took it “unwittingly” after feeling unwell. According to a club statement, Andre Onana unintentionally took a drug that has been prescribed by medical experts to his wife when he felt unwell before the anti-doping test.

On the morning of 30 October Onana did not feel well. He wanted to take a tablet. Unwittingly, however, he took Lasimac, a drug that his wife had previously been prescribed.

Ajax currently leads the way in the Eredivisie, holding a seven-point lead over PSV Eindhoven, while in the Europa League they face Lille in the round of 32 later this month. Unless the ban is overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sports, Andre Onana will miss the season from UEFA games which will affect his club and his career.
