Despite a well-known disdain for fake news, the US president has been caught out over altered photos of himself on social media.
Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts have posted a series of photos of him with some slight – and some not so slight – tweaks to his physical appearance.
An investigation by online news site Gizmodo uncovered at least three deceptive snaps, with the most recent being posted last week.
They compared a photo posted to the 72-year-old’s official Facebook account with the same photo on his Flickr account, with some obvious changes.
The president’s face has been altered to appear thinner and his fingers have been elongated as he points in the air.
Gizmodo also noted that Trump’s stomach appears slimmer and the skin around his neck and his jowls have been tightened.
They speculated that an app called FaceTune, popular with many Instagram influencers, was used to alter the photos with many celebrities including the Kardashians often caught out with over-editing.
Earlier this month Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was the centre of a photoshop fail when his staff superimposed fake sneakers over a family photo.
The US president’s office has yet to comment on Gizomodo’s investigation.
