A former quarterback in American football, Troy Smith was born on July 20, 1984. In the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft, he was chosen by the Baltimore Ravens. Ohio State was his collegiate football team.

Additionally, Smith has experience with the San Francisco 49ers. As a senior with the Buckeyes, he earned the Heisman Trophy in 2006. It is still a record that he received 86.7% of the first-place votes.

After elbowing an opponent in the head during a varsity basketball game, Smith was dismissed from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, where he spent his first two years of high school. He quickly changed schools, enrolling at Cleveland, Ohio’s Glenville High School.
