Trina Robbins, Renowned Comic Book Creator and Historian, Passes Away at 84

The comic book world mourns the loss of Trina Robbins, a true legend in the industry. At 84, Robbins passed away in San Francisco, California, following a stroke on April 10, 2024.

However, her heart belonged to underground comix, where she challenged norms and co-founded “Wimmen’s Comix” in the 1970s, showcasing female cartoonists’ talents.

Her own comics, often starring strong female characters, delved into social issues and shattered gender stereotypes.

Yet, Robbins’ impact extended beyond her own creations. She tirelessly worked to preserve comic history, co-founding the Comics Women’s Archive and advocating for the recognition of early female comic creators. Thanks to her efforts, forgotten artists found their place in history.
