Known for his early success, Daley became Great Britain’s second-youngest male Olympian when he competed in Beijing in 2008 at just 14 years old.

Although his debut Olympics did not yield medals, Daley quickly established himself as a leading figure in British diving.

By the end of the Tokyo 2020 Games, he had accumulated four Olympic medals, including a gold in the men’s 10m synchro with Matty Lee and three bronze medals from the 2012 and 2016 Games.

Despite announcing his “retirement” after Tokyo and stepping away from competitive diving for two years, Daley made a comeback in 2023, aiming for Paris 2024.

His return has been marked by renewed success, including qualifying for his fifth Olympics with a silver medal in the 10m synchro at the World Aquatics Championships in February.

Early Life and Career

Born in Plymouth in 1994, Daley began diving at age seven and quickly progressed, winning gold at the European Championships in 2008 and competing in both the 10m platform and 10m synchro events in Beijing.

He continued to excel, earning bronze at the 2012 London Olympics and again in Rio 2016.

Daley’s career reached a peak with his gold medal win in Tokyo, but after taking time off to welcome his second son and pursue punditry, his return to competition was unexpected.

He rejoined British Swimming’s World Class Programme in November 2023, encouraged by his family.

As Daley prepares for Paris, where he will also combine his role as a commentator with his competitive efforts, he aims to add to his impressive medal haul.

Partnering with Noah Williams, Daley’s comeback could solidify his legacy as a stalwart of British diving and a key contender at the upcoming Games.
