Tochi Criticizes Nigerians for Insensitivity and Ignorance Following Junior Pope’s Tragic Passing

Reality TV star Tochukwu Okechukwu, popularly known as Tochi, has criticized Nigerians who prioritized posting updates on social media over providing adequate attention to the late actor Junior Pope.

Tochi took to his Instagram story to address the insensitivity and ignorance displayed by people who rushed to the scene of the boating accident that claimed Junior Pope’s life, only to focus on posting updates.

He lamented the absence of basic CPR and the spread of unverified rumors that caused emotional distress to many.

In his statement, Tochi expressed disappointment at the lack of emergency response units at the scene, highlighting the distressing sight of people carrying Junior Pope’s body without proper medical assistance.

Junior Pope, known for his remarkable acting skills, starred in Nollywood films like “Gbege” in October 2022 and “Honey Money” in April 2023. His onscreen and offscreen chemistry earned him praise within the Nollywood community.

Tragically, Junior Pope lost his life in April 2024 when his boat capsized in the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state, while he was on his way to shoot a movie.

Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a grieving industry and fanbase. He was 39 years old.
