President Bola Tinubu’s government has stepped up with a substantial subsidy of N90 billion for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage, as announced by Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

This financial boost aims to ease the financial burden on pilgrims, ensuring a smoother journey for those embarking on this sacred pilgrimage.
Shettima highlighted the challenges faced in determining this year’s hajj fare due to fluctuating foreign exchange rates but emphasized Tinubu’s efforts to stabilize the local currency, resulting in reduced fares.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to religious pilgrimage, recognizing its transformative impact on believers beyond the pilgrimage itself.

Shettima assured that the government, under Tinubu’s leadership, has meticulously selected individuals of integrity to manage the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, ensuring the well-being of Nigerian pilgrims both in Saudi Arabia and at home.
He urged pilgrims to pray for the success of Tinubu’s administration and the nation’s peace and progress, emphasizing the collective effort needed for the country’s prosperity.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, emphasized discipline among Nigerian pilgrims to positively represent Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to the Tinubu-led government for its efforts in ensuring the 2024 hajj proceeds smoothly.
With outbound flights expected to be completed by June 10, over 50,000 Nigerian pilgrims are set to perform the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, thanks to the allocation of 95,000 Hajj slots by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
