President Bola Tinubu extended warm birthday wishes to Bayo Onanuga, acknowledging him as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists, according to a statement released on Thursday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
The president recognized Onanuga’s significant role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movements and his resilience in facing challenges due to his progressive beliefs and actions.

He also mentioned Onanuga’s contributions as a co-founder of The News Magazine and his leadership roles as CEO and Editor-in-Chief of PM News.
President Tinubu highlighted Onanuga’s past position as Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, commending him for his professional excellence and calling him a reliable and insightful adviser.
He expressed his wishes for Onanuga to enjoy many more years of good health and to continue contributing to the nation with renewed vigor.

“Mr Onanuga is one of Nigeria’s finest journalists with a string of accomplishments in the media and beyond to show for his efforts. He was a prominent figure in the pro-democracy struggles in Nigeria and, at various times, had to endure indignities over his progressive beliefs and pursuits.
