Tina Mba and Adunni Ade Lead Star-Studded Cast in Rotimi Raji’s Highly Anticipated Film “American Playboy”

Nollywood’s latest film, American Playboy, is set to make its cinema debut on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Directed by Rotimi Raji, the film delves into the challenges faced by Nigerian immigrants as they strive for financial and economic stability in the United States.

The cast features prominent Nollywood actors including Adunni Ade, who gained fame with her role in the 2013 Yoruba film You or I and recently starred in the top West African biopic of 2024, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.

Tina Mba, a seasoned Nollywood actress known for her work in the soap opera Everyday People and other shows like Jemeji, Hotel Majestic, and Desperate Housewives, also stars in the film. Other notable cast members include Wole Ojo, Niyi Johnson, Jide Kosoko, and Segun Akindele.

American Playboy centers on the tumultuous relationship between Akindele and Fadekemi. After being unemployed for four years, Akindele remains optimistic about improving their lives.

Their relationship is tested when Jimmy, an American returnee with a grudge, disrupts their plans. The film, written and produced by Silas Babalola, explores themes of family dynamics, love, betrayal, and forgiveness, set against the backdrop of both Nigeria and the U.S.

Rotimi Raji, known for his exploration of romantic relationships in films such as Bachelor’s Eve and Truth or Die, brings his signature touch to this new drama.
