In a candid interview with Accra-based Joy News, Bentum recounted the dark depths his addiction dragged him into.
“I was gone, and it was an everyday thing. I was heavily addicted; I literally sold everything in my father’s house,” Bentum shared, his voice heavy with regret and sorrow. Despite the gravity of his addiction, Bentum expressed profound gratitude to God for his eventual deliverance, acknowledging that he couldn’t fully comprehend how he broke free.

“Personally, I don’t think I have a clinical explanation to it because God played a huge role in my life,” Bentum emphasized, his tone reflecting a mix of disbelief and relief. “My case is strange because I had no withdrawal symptoms, I had no running nose.”

Bentum’s story resonates with the struggles of others in the creative industry, like musician Okyeame Kwame, who battled depression amidst a decline in success. Okyeame Kwame shared his journey of medication and introspection, revealing how he withdrew from music and communication for a year to confront his inner demons.

MOG Music also opened up about his personal battles with masturbation, smoking, and alcohol addiction. He credited his freedom from these vices to a spiritual encounter, describing a moment of tangible release from his urges after speaking to the Holy Spirit.
As these poignant narratives of addiction and recovery come to light, Ghanaian musician Rex Omar issued a heartfelt plea to the public to show compassion and support for those grappling with drug addiction. Omar emphasized the critical need to understand the perils of addiction and extend a helping hand to those in desperate need.
