Their conviction follows charges of armed robbery and conspiracy after they forcefully seized a Toyota Corolla from Gbenga Ajayi at gunpoint on March 1, 2019, along NTA Road, Ado Ekiti.

During the trial, the prosecution, led by Assistant Chief Legal Officer O.F Ajumobi, cited Section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, highlighting that the accused had committed serious offences.

Ajumobi presented two witnesses and 11 pieces of evidence to support the case.

In defense, the defendants, represented by Akin Abon, Iyanu Olumuagun, and Adeyinka Opaleke, provided their testimonies but did not call any witnesses.

Despite their efforts, Justice John Adeyeye, in delivering the judgment on Wednesday, June 19, concluded that the prosecution had convincingly demonstrated all elements of the crimes beyond doubt.

Consequently, Justice Adeyeye pronounced the verdict of death by hanging for Akingbade David, Michael Mayowa, and Ibrahim Mukaila on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy.

This ruling underscores the gravity with which the Nigerian judicial system addresses such severe criminal activities, aiming to uphold justice and deter similar offences in society.
