“That Your Nkrumah”: Ghanaians Upset With NAPO’s Dismissive Remarks About First President Nkrumah

Ghanaians on social media are peeved over claims by Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is Ghana’s best President. What’s even worrying is the description he gave Ghana’s first President “That Your Nkrumah”.

To many who have expressed their disgust for the comments, the running mate for the New Patriotic Party shouldn’t have uttered those words when he knows and is clear in his mind that they were factually inaccurate.

Sentiments expressed about the statement made by Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh were mostly negative and a rehashing of claims of his supposed arrogance.

The New Patriotic Party on July 9, 2024, unveiled Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. At a well-attended ceremony, several speeches were made with calls for unity In the political party if they are looking at making history with a victory in the 2024 election.

Unpleased by the utterance of Napo, he highlighted the unparalleled contributions of Dr Nkrumah to Ghana’s independence and development.

He enumerated several of Dr Nkrumah’s achievements, particularly in the Ashanti region, which include the establishment of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and the expansion of the Kumasi Central Market.
