Terry Norris was an Australian politician and stage, television, and film actor. Terry Norris, died on Monday, March 20 2023, at the age of 92.

Terry Norris was born to a boilermaker in Melbourne.  Norris’ career began in the 1950s and early 1960s. He has played a variety of theatre roles and also written plays.

He has appeared in television shows. He is perhaps best known for his roles in two long-running television series. From 1969 to 1977, he played Joe Turner in the television series Bellbird.

After a stint working in the UK, Norris (pictured in 2004) returned to Melbourne in 1962, where he had ’20 years with the longest run of luck of any actor on the face of the earth’

Beginning in December 1977, he portrayed Senior Sergeant Eric O’Reilly in the police drama Cop Shop. Norris has also appeared on television in the shows Bobby Dazzler and The Last of the Australians.

He also appeared in films such as Romulus, My Father, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Paper Planes.

Terry Norris took a ten-year break from show business to serve in state politics for the Labor Party in the Victorian Legislative Assembly.
